RECYCLING

Reclamation & Recycling: New Life For Old Flooring
With today's compliance issues, as well as our elevated awareness of environmental issues, disposal of old flooring isn't as simple as ripping it up and throwing it in a dumpster. That's why Legacy offers complete, flooring recycling and reclamation services as an integral part of the complete flooring project process.

Our One-Stop Reclamation Program is a completely environmentally friendly service. It is LEED compliant and can be used for LEED accreditation. It also works within the green initiatives set forth by the Carpet America Recovery Effort (CARE). And because we work right here in your neighborhood, we are also up to speed on all local compliance regulations in additional to all the federal mandates. So you never have to worry about anything getting overlooked.
Our One-Stop Recycling Program also alleviates the hassles that can be associated with environmentally responsible disposal. Because all you need to do is call us, and we take of the entire process - from removal to compliance to certification - from there.
We'll:

  • Supply a comprehensive quote with no hidden expenses
  • Have our trained and experienced staff remove your old flooring quickly and professionally
  • Arrange transportation to our dedicated reclamation center
  • Provide proof that the material did not go to the landfill
  • Document the procedure and submit records for compliance

Our unbiased program is flexible enough to accept and recycle virtually all carpet materials. Any fibers. From any mill.

Then, once we get your old carpet to our Service Center, we bring it back to life in the form of new "green" flooring products, consumer and industrial parts, or converted into energy. In fact, no useful part of your old floor goes to waste. It's the flooring industry's equivalent to reincarnation.

So stop worrying about what you're going to do with your old floor. Call us. We'll take care of it. Plus, we can help you spec "green" choices for your new floor too. It's all part of what you can expect when you choose us to manage your entire flooring process.

First Annual Awards Recognize Top Recycling Efforts

Starnet Worldwide Commercial Flooring Partnership is pleased to announce Legacy Commercial Flooring, headquartered in Columbus, OH, and Sergenian's Floor Coverings, headquartered in Madison, WI, as the recipients of the 2007 Starnet/CARE (Carpet America Recovery Effort) Carpet Reclamation Awards for medium-sized and large businesses, respectively. The award is available to all Starnet member firms and recognizes the top effort of annual landfill diversion by two Members, a medium and large size, based on sales volume. Bob Peoples, former CARE executive director, presented the awards at the annual Starnet meeting held in Orlando, Florida.Fred Williamson, Vice President Operations of Starnet comments, "We are very pleased with the results of our partnership with CARE. Since launching our Starnet/CARE Reclamation Program in January of 2006, Starnet Member firms have helped commercial flooring clients meet their individual environmental goals. These companies have set a great example for all of our Members to follow." A joint industry-government initiative, CARE has established itself as a force in the green movement by boosting the recycling of post-consumer carpet from less than 50 million pounds at its time of inception in 2002, to 275 million pounds in 2007. During those six years it has succeeded in diverting a combined one billion pounds of carpet from U.S. landfills. In order to continually encourage companies who are diligently helping to achieve this success, CARE performs quantitative measurements of reclamation projects and reports on its progress toward the national goals for carpet recovery. These awards acknowledge and honor companies like Sergenian's and Legacy that stand out from the rest in their exemplary efforts toward greener business practices.
